Would happily do so if we could work out one that matches what I know how to link
chris macrae
Incidentally, how does one program bookmark links into this particular post-format?
Also, how soon can we tidy up a list of whom the core online community is. This involves:
1) sending out the email to everyone at the conference asking them to hit the reply button if they are happy to be in a group list
2) possibly tidying up a masterlist of identities - at the moment we have 150 people registered here but the listing of whom they are is largely unrecognisable because of no pattern in way people chose nicknames, unless someone clicks through each name one by one - I hated to think of everyone having to reinvent that wheel
or have I missed some easier way of seeing?

Chris I have written some copy to go in the email that will go out to everyone. Your input has been helpful for this.
One thought on this is that we need to somehow group the initiatives in the Open Space section. Seems like a question of taxonomy. How to create categories. Any thoughts?

Once of the best ways that I have seen of categorising things is to allow multiple categorisations at the same time. This sounds complicated at first but works really well.
So choose multiple categorisations and classify each project under each one.
Possible categorisations:
location - UK, US etc, Global, European etc.
Kind - politics, financial, environmental, susainability etc
Target colour - blue, green etc.
The simplest way to use it would be to have a list of projects under each classification. Ideally software is used to dynamically look things up which gives the added advantage of being able to do complext lookups .e.g., tell me about all of th UK environmental projects.
There are not a huge number of projects at the moment but i think that if remaining joined up remains a primary focus it would also be nice to classify other peoples projects as well with a view to "joining up" (i.e sharing resources in some way) with them as well where appropriate.

I'm not sure I see the whole view of Colin's question as this board is quite a sprawler
I like Jon's idea; and I would also consider a thread each month for announcing upcoming meetings where projects are alive. Meetings are the times when a project has a great chance to expand and its a pity if they dont get top stage in the community's lines of sight
The email that was supposed to go out to the 350 asking who wanted to share an email register doesnt seem to have gone out yet, and I feel the network evaporates or sprwals until this happens

Hi Jon, we met briefly on the Friday at your session on 'network support'.
I would like to see a multiple categorisation system in action to really picture it but I like the concept. Part of the challenge is that so many initiatives, discussion threads, ideas, concepts or events link to each other in surprising ways. It is how to categorise and link these parcels of information in such a way as to enable people to navigate and access bethechange web and link be the change with other networks and communities. Are you aware of any similar networks that employ multiple categorisation?
This discussion thread is an example. The thread title does not describe what the discussion has now moved onto which is how build a virtual community and BTC network.
