BtC May 2004 was extraordinarily inspiring and the organisers are to be congratulated (again!). The speakers were great and the level of interdisciplinary complexity fascinating. Yes, we need more of that in future.

BUT, despite the initial advertising to the contrary, it was just a normal conference (with too much sitting around and not enough movement) without really any opportunity for questions, interactive dialogue or fierce conversations during the primary two days - Apart from the usual breaks for interaction with participants.

The last day's open space seemed too much for one day: there were lots of interesting topics which one couldn't really attend because of time (although I had to miss the last part).

So, I found it frustrating to sit around so much and be unable to interact in a large group plenary, and I know I wasn't alone in that view. Our organisms need to move more and communicate more: that was why Harrison Owen developed Open Space! Let's have more in future please - and more organic flow possibilities during the whole event. But above all, let's do it again: can we wait until May 2005 for another? I'm too impatient for change!
